The EliteNAS EN872W+BXE NAS / iSCSI Unified Storage is a comprehensive feature-rich 8U 72-bay NAS rackmount with Dual Intel Westmere Xeon Quad-Core, 4.8GT/s Quick Path Interconnect processor, and 8GB DDR-3 ECC memory. Based on Microsoft Storage Server 2008 R2, the EN872W+BXE is a performance tuned NAS server with iSCSI initiator and target support, unified file-level based and block-level based access in the storage. Advance storage technologies such as file duplication (SIS, Single Instant Storage), replication (DFSR, Distributed File System Replication) and snapshot (VSS, Volume Shadow Copy Serves) are provided without additional cost. Built-in hardware RAID 50 and 60 protections, up to 216TB of storage capacity, and quad Gigabit Ethernet ensures optimal performance in your storage environment. Built-in hot-swappable redundant power supplies, along with the RAID 1 for OS hard drives, minimize system down time. With industry’s first built-in mini-SAS expansion ports, the EN850W+BXE allows expansion of up to 21 more addition EliteSTOR SAS Expander JBOD storages, or total of 360 drives, making a total of 1080TB storage, over 1PB in a network sharing or iSCSI environment.

WSS2008's built-in iSCSI support enables Hyper-V guest to expand their storage via iSCSI. It also supports shared iSCSI storage with SCSI-3 persistent target.
